  • FS Gooseneck Fiber Optic (Threaded Ferrule)

    $60.00

This is an unusual fiber optic gooseneck. The output ferrule is threaded for a length of 1.50 inches and there is a locking nut on the ferrule. The threads mate with special collector lenses which are focused by where they are positioned on the thread, and locked in place using the nut. There is no manufacturers mark on this bundle, however we have a bifurcated bundle with identical fittings it has a manufacturers mark on the base which consists of an elided F and S (Fostec / Schott?), but no other marks.

The input ferrule is 0.623 inches in diameter. There is no flat milled into the ferrule, presumably because it doesnt matter what orientation it is secured in. The length of the input ferrule is 1.5 inches.. The overall length of the bundle is 26 inches.

This is a very nicely constructed bundle the arm stays where it is placed and there is no fiber drop-out. The ferrule ends are also very nicely finished. Condition is superb.

  • FS Bifurcated Gooseneck Fiber Optics (Threaded

    $110.00

This is an unusual bifurcated fiber optic gooseneck. The output ferrules are threaded for a length of 1.50 inches and there is a locking nut on each ferrule. The threads fit special collector lenses which may be focused by where they are positioned on the thread, and locked in place using the nut. There is a manufacturers mark on the bundle base which consists of an elided F and S (Fostec / Schott?), but no other marks.

The input ferrule is 0.623 inches in diameter with a large flat milled onto the upper side. The length is a bit longer than the usual half inch, at 0.600 inches. The overall length of each arm is 22 inches.

This is a very nicely constructed bundle the arms stay where they are placed and there is no fiber drop-out. The ferrule ends are also very nicely finished. Condition is superb.

  • Metric Bifurcated Gooseneck Fiber Optics

    $75.00

This is a nicely made (but no manufacturers mark) bifurcated fiber optic gooseneck. The anodizing on the ferrules has faded making them a bit unattractive, but they are very well-behaved they stay where they are put. There does not seem to be any fiber drop-out either and the bundle ends are well-finished.

The dimensions on these bundles are definitely Metric. The bundle length is 500mm, and the input ferrule has a stepped sleeve. The smaller diameter is 13mm by 16mm in length, with a step up to 20mm diameter, 15mm in length. The 20mm sleeve has a flat milled on one side, and on the opposite side is a hole in the facing flange, probably to engage a pin on the fiber optic illuminator (to prevent the bundle from tipping to one side in the port).

The output ferrule is 9mm in diameter, and 11mm long. The output diameter of the bundle is about 6mm.

These are in very nice condition if you have the correct illuminator with which to use them.

  • Generic Bifurcated Gooseneck Fiber Optics

    $40.00

I would honestly be a bit generous in calling these budget bifurcated gooseneck fiber optic bundles. They will get light from one end of the bundle to the other, but the bundles typically will experience fall-out in one or both sides, although the highest percentage I have seen probably doesnt approach 40. The other problem is that the goosenecks often do not stay where they are set. Sometimes there are flaws in the coils that cause the bundle to bend at an angle that cannot be straightened. And lastly, the bundles at the tips of the ferrules are often not flush with the ends.

In dimension, they were made to be compatible with the Dolan Jenner bifurcated bundles (.625 x .500 inch long input ferrule, and .500 x 1.475 inch long output ferrule), complete with the flat milled on the top of the input ferrule. The good thing about these is that they are very inexpensive they WILL get light from one end to the other (although not 100%), and if you have a means of securing the output end where you want it, they represent a huge savings over the Dolan Jenner bundles

  • Dionics, Inc. Bifurcated Gooseneck Fiber Optics

    $140.00

This is a Dionics, Inc. bifurcated fiber optic bundle for illumination purposes. Each arm of the bundle is 16 inches long. The output ferrule tapers down so the extremity is only 0.187 inches in diameter (3/16 inch). The length of the small diameter is .665 inches. Actual fiber bundle diameter at the tip is 0.125 inches.

The input bundle diameter is 0.175 inches. The diameter of the ferrule for the illuminator end is 0.625 inches, and 0.500 inches in length. There is a small flat milled on either side of the input ferrule for secure clamping.

These are exceptionally well made bundles they stay put once they are positioned, and the quality of the construction is evident everywhere. There is no fiber drop-out in any of the bundles.

  • Opto Power Corp. Diode Pumped Laser OPC-

    $650.00

Opto Power Corporation Diode Pumped IR Laser, Model OPC-B015-805-FCPS with a remote control panel. The laser was manufactured in December of 1996, and is in excellent functional condition. The only cosmetic issue appears to be a missing dress panel on the bottom of the laser power supply the recess on the bottom of the unit is open to the bottom.

Fiber bundle is standard type steel-clad and appears to be terminated in an FSMA type threaded connector. The ferrule diameter is 3.175mm The bundle is a mutli-fiber type (not a single-strand communications fiber). Bundle length is 32 inches..

There is no master power switch on the system uses standard IEC type cord, and is wired for 110V. Once plugged in, the fans start to operate and the Standby LED in the central pair of switches comes on. After a moment you can touch the Ready switch which enables the laser to be activated by the red Laser ON / OFF switch. There are independent readouts of Diode Temperature and Diode Drive Current, both of which are adjustable using multi-turn pots. A pilot warning lamp is illuminated when the laser is on.

I believe the B015 denotes the output power of the laser (15W), while the 805 denotes the wavelength. I stopped turning the drive current pot once it reached 20 Amps, but I had no way of monitoring the output power. (Under higher drive currents there was a visible red glow on a matte white glass plate, however my camera was unable to record it properly).

This item is being sold as a functional system.

  • McPherson Spectrogram-Measuring Microscope

    $1,000.00

This is a very rare item. It is a McPherson measuring microscope designed for critical measurement of spectral line separation. Plates can be scanned over an area of 250mm by 100mm. The measurement in the X-direction is via a scale on the front of the instrument graduated in single mms. Resolution is increased to 1 micron via a vernier on the 150mm diameter drum dial for the leadscrew. The leadscrew itself has a diameter of 25mm, with a pitch of 1mm.

The negative table can be released from the leadscrew easily for quickly checking other areas of the negative. The table can be moved in the Y-direction via a small knob on the left side of the platen, and the position read via a vernier to an accuracy of 0.1mm. There is also a small knob on the front of the table to the right which allows a very small adjustment of the theta angle so the negative scan is perfectly orthogonal.

No clamps are included for securing the spectral scans. There are bores on both sides of the long axis of the carrier, presumably for some sort of retaining system.

The microscope is suspended above the scan by a double-arm limb for extreme rigidity, but the focus adjustment is a conventional dovetail arrangement with rack & pinion. The microscope tube and focus drive are manufactured by Bausch & Lomb and date the instrument to the late 1950s or 1960s. There is a cross-line reticle in the focusable inclined ocular.

The instrument is missing the lamphouse, and the connection for the lamphouse appears to be unique. There is a standard fork-type 50mm adjustable microscope mirror in the base.

This is an incredibly finely crafted instrument in really spectacular condition (with a few minor chips in the paint on the back of the microscope support limbs). The leadscrew is in perfect condition, and all motions work flawlessly. The serial number of the microscope is 10024. Very uncommon.

  • Rodenstock Apo-Sironar-N Objective, f 5.6, 150mm

    $360.00

This is a very nice example of a Rodenstock Apo-Sironar-N large format camera objective, 150mm focal length, and f ratio of 1:5.6. It is mounted in a gutted shutter, so there is no aperture iris and no timing mechanism (lens is always wide-open). The lens assembly is in very fine condition, although there are some bits of dust on the elements. No coating blemishes, no delamination, and no scratches or pits in the elements All you need is to mount the lens in a suitable size ‘0’ shutter (such as a Copal 0 or a Syncrho-Compur 0) and you will have a great 4×5 format ‘normal’ objective. The lens image circle is 76 degrees with an image circle of 214mm, so it will accommodate extensive tilts and shifts. Serial number of the lens is 11551585..

  • Laser Beam-Combining Assembly with Camera Port

    $399.00

Laser Beam-Combining Assembly with Camera Port…

This device appears to be a laser beam combining port so a camera system can image the workpiece on the same optical axis as the laser. This would be important for initial workpiece setup. There is no manufacturers mark anywhere, but the device is very nicely constructed. The camera port is completely open, with a smooth bore of 50mm aperture. On the beam delivery side, there is a focusing optic of 40mm diameter. This lens can be focused through a range of about 12mm via a small micrometer spindle.

The combining element appears to be some sort of dichroic filter as expected, it remains stationary as the lens is focused. On the input side of the module are two components. The first appears to be a Schott Glass BG 38 blue glass filter. Mounted with that filter in the same bore is a lens of 24mm diameter. The inside diameter of the input port is 49mm, with a step down to 35mm after a depth of 6mm. There are three set screws placed equidistant in the 49mm portion of the bore.

Overall length of the assembly is 220mm with the lens fully extended. On the distal end of the objective is a thin slot that appears may have held a dark slide presently it is empty. First photo shows the device from the side, camera port facing downwards. The second photo shows the camera port with the dichroic inside. The last photo shows the beam input port. The device appears to be in perfect condition with the exception of a trace of haze at the margin of one surface of the blue filter barely visible at the edge. The objective, the smaller relay lens, and the dichroic beam-splitter are all flawless..

  • D.O. Industries Golden Navitar KE f 3.5 Projection Lens

    $250.00

This is a D.O. Industries ‘Golden Navitar’ projection lens with a Kodak Ektagraphic III focusing mount. The Navitar projection lenses are among the finest produced being exceptionally well corrected for flatness of field and for color rendition. They are the equal of most camera lenses as far as optical performance. They are the objective of choice in many conference rooms and lecture halls..

This particular lens is a fixed focal length version at a very short 1.5” with an f-ratio of 2.8. The very wide angle enables one to place the projector in front of the viewing group – a 10 foot wide screen can be filled with the projector a mere 11 feet 6 inches from the screen.

Furthermore, this particular objective is equipped with a perspective correction device. The front lens of the objective can be moved ‘off-axis’ by up to 3.8mm, the direction of the displacement can be set in any direction and locked at the desired position. The perspective correction feature enables one to eliminate the ‘keystone’ effect created by projecting an image onto a screen that isn’t orthogonal to the projector. With a wide-angle lens it would be typical to have the projector located in front of the viewing audience. If it were placed perfectly in front of the screen, the projector would be in the way of some audience members. Placing the projector on a ceiling suspended shelf, or on a low table in front of the audience would create a trapezoidal image on the screen. Offsetting the front lens of the objective helps overcome this disadvantage. The front lens if marked with a white ring so the amount of offset may be visually checked. This is the same principal used for perspective correcting SLR lenses when photographing tall buildings or architecture from ground level – without perspective correction, the buildings appear to lean away from the viewer.

The wide projection angle places rigorous requirements on the design of the objective so it will remain evenly bright from corner to corner, perfectly sharp, and free of distortions. In addition, all Navitar fixed focus objectives are guaranteed to be within 1% of the stated focal length – it is very easy to match projectors for lap dissolve setups.

The lens is in perfect optical condition. The anodizing on some lenses does show a bit of minor fading here and there, but they basically look great. This was one of the most expensive lenses in the Golden Navitar series – it listed for over $1100 in the mid-1990’s.

  • Schneider-Kreuznach TV Variogon Lens 25-125mm f1.7

    $350.00

This lens, a Schneider-Kreuznach TV Variogon with a focal length of 25 to 125mm seems to be very unusual. . Despite the relatively short focal length at the ‘wide’ end of the zoom range, the lens is simply massive. With the aluminum mounting tube the overall length is 385mm when set to infinity. The diameter of the lens is approximately 100mm across the helical drive gears. The mounting flange is 89mm in diameter (bore diameter is 44.5mm), and there are four threaded holes in a 54.25mm square pattern on the flange. This was meant to be secured to a mounting plate from the camera side of the plate. Weight is another issue with mounting this lens – it weighs in at over 8 ¼ pounds

There is a small geared wheel that adjusts the position of the rear-most element set independently of the rest of the lens – I assume to adjust the ‘infinity’ focal plane to the vidicon tube. The image circle appears to be approximately an inch in diameter and is positioned a few mm inside the tube. Either there was an additional relay lens placed within the camera system, or the vidicon protruded into the mounting aperture. The mounting sleeve is simply attached to the rear of the lens with four screws and is easily removed. It would be fairly trivial to machine an interface to a different camera adapter.

The aperture ring is graduated from f1.72 to f22. It works very smoothly. The zoom function ring is next, graduated every 5mm between 25 and 80mm, thereafter at 90, 100, and 125mm. The focus ring is graduated in both meters and feet, ranging from 1.9 meters or 6.6 feet to infinity. Meters are in white, and feet in green. (Aperture scale is in white, and the zoom scale in yellow-orange). Both the zoom and the focus rings have helical drive rings.

The lens is in perfect optical condition with the exception of a very tiny coating flaw (or so it appears) on the inner surface of the front element. It is only about a mm across – pretty trivial considering the front element is over 72mm in diameter. Otherwise, there are no scratches, delamination problems, or clouding in any of the elements. Cosmetically, the lens is in very fine condition – the most significant issue is a small spot of corrosion just to the left of the small focus compensation wheel in the first photo, and some very shallow dings in the sleeve between the zoom and aperture rings, probably from when the motor drive was attached.

  • Machinists Translation Stage Small Dimensions

    $40.00

This is a very small machinists translation stage. There are no fixture holes in the top surface but there is a bolt-hole pattern for securing the lower fixed plate of the stage. The stage uses a micrometer screw with a graduated (0.001 per division) knurled head to advance the table. The stage uses dovetail ways with an adjustable gib. There is no lost motion in the dovetail, and the adjustment screw has very little end-play. Total travel is a bit more than , and overall size of the upper (smooth) plate not including the side plate with the micrometer is 2.00 x 3.00. Height of the stage is 0.910. Construction is exclusively steel with the exception of the leadscrew nut which is of brass.
