Kensington XY-Theta Stage, 8 by 8 Inch Range,
$1,900.00This is certainly the finest stage ever made for the examination of 8-inch wafers under a microscope This Kensington stage is very massive (over 200 pounds) and formed the �base� of the Reichert Polyvar SC semiconductor research microscope. For that reason the base is quite long in the front-to-rear dimension � the upright frame of the Polyvar was secured to the rear center of the base.
The stage consists of four independent motions. The bottom �X� translator occupies much of the base plate with 8 inches of motion front-to-back. Sitting on top of that is a second 8-inch translator for the �Y� axis. On top of the Y translator is an 8-inch diameter rotary stage. This stage may be moved in the Z axis through several millimeters.
All motions can be actuated manually using provided knobs. The stage is intended to be driven by a Model 4000 multi-axis controller equipped with suitable driver boards. The standard user interface is a small keypad that displays coordinates of the stage and degrees of theta rotation. This listing is ONLY for the actual stage as illustrated. The controllers and the driver boards are available separately, as are some of the user interface keypads.
The specifications on the Kensington 4000 series stages are most impressive � 0.1 micron resolution, 0.2 micron repeatability, and 1 micron total measurement error over the entire range of travel. Readout is via glass scales (covers shown removed on the X axis so construction may be seen). Theta rotation can be read to 4 arc seconds, with similar specifications for repeatability and accuracy. The theta stage has a recess for use with wafer loading equipment. The stage surface is provided with vacuum connections. Vacuum line connections are located on back panel immediately above the electrical axis connectors.
The stages are in spectacular condition. You will need to add a Model 4000 five-axis control system plus one axis driver board for each axis (Z-axis is optional, as is the theta axis, but a theta axis board is strongly recommended) Other components needed are the connection cables, and the user interface keypad with display. All of these components are manufactured by Kensington.

Mark-Tech Laser Magnetic Target Mount for repair
$200.00Mark-Tech Laser mounting for targets and beam-splitters. Magnetic actuator needs repair. Mount is 4.25 inches wide, 5.625 inches long. Optic axis height is nominally 2.5 inches. There are large diameter super-fine pitch adjustment screws for Y and Z translation (parallel to optic axis).
Bore diameter of holder is 1.25 inches. There is a large spring-loaded bearing that engages the detents in the mirror or detector cells. The base has a switchable permanent magnet for secure clamping. There are also three mounting holes (clearance for �-20 bolts) that are concentric with the leveling pads which are fixed in place.
Mounts are in very nice condition but there is some wear in finish of the base paint. Magnetic actuator needs repair. Part number on the mount is 6412 and it is dated April 1988.

This appears to be a standard US Laser spatial filter holder with thumb-screw adjustments. However, opposite the thread for fitting the aperture, there is an additional cubic housing with a 20.5mm bore. The bore is not perfectly concentric with the filter aperture in the �centered� position.The spatial filter holder is mounted on a US Laser optical bench carrier, 2.25 inches wide, fitting their standard optical rail.
There is no kinemetric adjustment to the aperture housing, so it is doubtful that it was to be used for holding one of the mirrors..Carrier and holder are in excellent condition.

US Laser Safety Shutter with Front Mirror on
$100.00This is a US Laser standard optical bench carrier with three integrated components installed. The �type� label on the bottom of the carrier simply states Safety Shutter and Front Mirror, (no catalog number). However, this appears to have an additional �First Pulse� shutter installed, which is missing the flag. The rotary solenoid is there along with the bracket.
The first component is a �Safety Shutter� assembly similar to the one labeled �type 1031-2� on a different carrier. However it has been fully integrated with a front mirror kinemetric mount.
The shutter appears to be �gravity fail-safe� type using rotary solenoids � if the solenoid loses power, the shutter flag automatically drops closed There is a warning light for safety shutter position indication. Shutter controller is not provided.
The kinemetric mount includes a standard US Laser R=90% at 1064nm mirror, part number USL 3403. Coating appears to be in perfect condition. Overall condition appears excellent..

U. S. Laser Adjustable Attenuator, Model 1005-3-B-2 on carrier fitting US Laser optical benches. Carrier has sprocket-driven belt linkage to rotatable wave plate. Polarizing prism is adjustable through 360 degrees and can be locked via a clamping ring. Prism is about 12mm square in cross-section. Free opening of holder is 10mm diameter. The wave plate may be rotated independently of the prism. It has it�s own locking collar. Attenuation adjustment range has a ratio of approximately 100 to 1, with a less than 15% insertion loss.
Optics are in perfect condition as is the main rotating mount assembly. However the countershaft with the sprocket has been slightly bent and there are some teeth missing on the belt. The stainless steel lever for adjusting the initial orientation of the polarizing prism is missing. Axle and belt could be replaced very easily (axle is held in place with two �E� clips). Handle for polarizer simply threads in place and threads are not damaged. The drive mechanism has the advantage of allowing attenuation adjustment without having to open the laser enclosure. The external actuator knob and system connecting the carrier to the external actuator are not present.

Circular Graduated Neutral Density Filter
$40.00This is a metal film graduated neutral density filter on a circular glass substrate 152mm in diameter. The central bore for the hub is 24mm in diameter. The effective filter area is 60mm wide (extending from 14mm to 74mm radius). The clear diameter of the hub is 26mm. Thickness of the glass is 3mm. The filter is deposited on the surface (no cover glass).
The filter is in fair condition � the metalized film coating appears quite �blotchy� and uneven. The substrate appears to be in excellent condition, however. There is no calibration information with the filter, nor do we know who the manufacturer is. The density appears to become quite great rather quickly. I am not sure what the density curve is supposed to be, or what angle of arc it subtends.
Please see the first photo for indication of coating problems � the line across the bottom of the filter is a reflection, but the mottled appearance is in fact the way it appears.

It is similar in dimensions to the standard MR80.25 translation stage that runs on single-row opposed ball-bearing races. This stage, however, runs on recirculating double-row ball bearings, and as such, should have a much higher load-bearing capacity than the standard MR80 stage, as well as better straightness characteristics. I was unable to find any listing for this stage so it may have only been in production briefly.
