It will accept lenses or optics up to 1� in diameter, and includes a pair of threaded retaining rings so the mirror or lens may be located within the threaded bore at will. Coherent Optics 2-axis 2″ Gimbal Mirror Mount #58
$150.00This is a two-axis gimbal-type mirror / lens mount marketed by Coherent Optics, Model Number 58. The mounting is quite clever � the turning axes are cylindrical magnets that also act as bearings. Two Starrett micrometer spindles actuate the motions. They bear against additional magnetic pads. I am not sure how repetitive the positioning is but there doesn�t seem to be much play at all in the bores for the magnet bearings.
The mirror mount will accept mirrors up to 2� in diameter, and using the clamping ring supplied, between 0.350� and 0.700� thick if the ring is not to be set proud of the mounting face. Clear aperture of the mount is 1.875�. Aperture is reduced by the clamping ring to 1.750�. Tilting range of both axes easily exceeds plus or minus 6 degrees.
The mounting base is 3.875� by 2.000� wide and has two counterbores for � 20 cap screws 2� apart, centered on the optic axis of the mount. The optic axis is located 1.375� from the end of the mounting plate.
The mount is in extremely fine condition.

A third plate fixed to the front aperture plate serves as a baseplate. The gap between the two plates can be adjusted from zero to 1.38� so multiple filters and elements may be stacked together and then held perfectly upright by the sliding plate. The height of the optic axis from the base is 1.25�. Overall height of the holder is 2.25�, and the width of the holder is 2.75�. Length of the baseplate is 2�. The filter holders are in excellent condition!

The mount includes a large knurled clamping ring to secure the mirror in the mount without the requirement for special spanner tools. The clear aperture of the mount is 1.875�. Clear aperture of the securing ring is 1.75�. Outside diameter of the mounting system is 3.875�, with a nominal thickness for the clear anodized aluminum portion of 0.912�. Leveling of the element is accomplished via three symmetrically positioned micrometer spindles.
The mounting is in near-perfect condition. All spindles turn very freely.

Davidson Optronics 90-degree Prism Adapter
$350.00This item is very unusual. It is a Davidson Optronics Model 104-0145 90-degree Prism Adapter. The adapter fits onto the ends of the standard 58mm diameter collimator objectives tubes. There are two ports on the side of the �cap�, and the collimator beam is split so one half is directed at 90 degrees to the right, the other half 90 degrees to the left. The reflector is a solid prism with silvered surfaces � I am not sure if it is polished metal or silvered glass. The adapter has a knurled cover that may be turned to block the side apertures.
I have not been able to discover any specifications on this device (such as the angular deviation of the right and left optic axes) but considering the manufacturer is Davidson Optronics, I would infer it is a very high precision device. I am not sure of its original application, but imagine it would be very useful for aligning two opposing mirrors parallel to each other without having to juggle any fixtures. For the last photo I placed different colored cards on either side of the mirror. The prism peak is actually quite sharp, but there is some cutoff in the reflections that makes it appear truncated.
Condition of the adapter is near perfect � the prism surfaces appear to be completely free of blemishes. The adapter did not come with any protective cabinet.

Gaertner Precision Travelling Focus Drive
$250.00This is a rather unusual item. It is a combination X-axis precision translation drive and precision drum reading micrometer drive with a Z-axis rack & pinion drive. The X-axis has a 50mm scale divided into single units numbered every 10mm. The leadscrew has a pitch of 1mm so each revolution of the drum advances the drive 1mm. The drum has a scale very finely divided into 100 parts, again numbered every 10 divisions. Furthermore, the scale reads against a vernier directly to 0.002mm. The graduations are fine enough that it is easy to interpolate to 0.001mm.
The Z-axis is a simple rack & pinion drive. The dovetail fitting has an adjustable jib, but there are no graduations on the Z-axis. The face of the moving portion of the Z-axis is approximately 50mm by 100mm with two mounting bores (the component to be secured using bolts from the inside surface of the mount). Someone has machined an aluminum plate in such a way that the device may be mounted in three different positions.
The translator is manufactured by Gaertner Scientific, but I could discover no information about this particular piece. The condition is very fine � the leadscrew advances the carrier with the Z-axis drive very smoothly without backlash, and there is no play in the Z-axis dovetail. There is a bit of play between the rack and the pinion, however it is very minor. Shims could be placed under the rack to remove the play if desired.

Laser Calcite Polarizing Prism
$199.00We are not sure of the manufacturer of this item � it has no maker�s markings anywhere.
We suspect Wollaston may be the manufacturer.This is a holder with a calcite prism installed. It splits an incident laser beam (shown in the photos with a small HeNe laser) into two beams perpendicularly polarized to each other. One beam appears to be much more divergent than the other, but this was not tested on an optical bench so no measurements were made. However, the beam that is �single� seems to process about the beam with the ghost images. I am not sure if the prism is a single oriented crystal of Calcite, or if it is actually a type of Wollaston prism. As can be seen in the third photo, the beam is split into two primary beams, one of which has the ghost reflections. I took additional photos with a polarizer alternately blocking the primary beam, and after a 90-degree rotation, the secondary (extraordinary) beam.
The cell mounting for the prism is 1 inch in diameter, not including the cap. The larger aperture on the smaller diameter side is about 5mm, that of the �cap� only about 3mm. There are two scribe marks on the cap which I would have thought indicated the permitted vibration directions of each beam, but they appear to be turned relative to the plane of polarization (perhaps the holder for the cell has the matching indications similarly offset).
The holders and prisms appear to be in perfect condition. The prism has some sort of anti-reflective coating but I am not sure what it is, or if it is optimized for a particular wavelength region. The prism appears to be approximately 7 or 8 mm square, but I was unable to measure this since access to the prism is precluded by the cap.

Instead of using a cradle with a goniometer type motion, this base is hinged on one side using a spring steel blade. There are a pair of set screws which are then used to tip the plate very precisely. They can, in turn, be secured with a pair of adjacent Allen cap screws. This system would allow much finer control of the pitch of the attached device. Yaw may be adjusted using the ample slots in the base. The degree of pitch available is much smaller than that provided by the 10710A, and the component will not remain �face-centered� as it is adjusted. However, due to the small amount of motion provided, we doubt it is of any consequence. The main advantage in this base is in the degree of control.

HP 10710A Leveling Mount (Sm) with 45-
$50.00This is an assembly consisting of an HP 10710A Small Leveling Base on which a 45-degree fully reflecting prism has been cemented. Although the prism could have been used to deflect a beam downwards through the aperture in the base, the excess cement that covers the face of the prism adjacent to the base would preclude such use � much of the aperture is filled with cement. Therefore it was intended for use in directing a beam upwards at right-angles to the base-plate.
The prisms are very rigidly mounted. Rather than break the prisms in an effort to remove them, we have decided to offer them in the condition found. The first-surface mirror is in excellent condition, and the prisms (although exposed) have not been chipped or damaged.

$170.00This item is an HP 10556A Retroreflector in the large size (2� square) mounting format found in the earlier Hewlett-Packard Laser Interferometer Distance Measurment Apparatus. There are four countersunk holes in a 1.4� face-centered pattern. The holes are countersunk on both sides of the mounting flange. The �outside� set of countersinks are used when attaching the retroreflector to one of the 105xx series of interferometers. The �inside� set of countersinks are used to secure the corner cube to the special carrier with post (HP part number 10550B).

$150.00This is an HP 10703A Retroreflector. It consists of a glass corner-cube reflector in a cylindrical mount. It is a component in the Hewlett-Packard Laser Interferometer Distance Measurement Apparatus. The reflector is attachable to the 1.5� size interferometer bodies. They may also be fixtured independently of the interferometer.
These components have been removed from various fixtures. They meet our requirements for first quality used interferometer components. All optical surfaces are free of blemishes and there are no gouges or distortions in any of the parts that would in any way impede accuracy of measurements. Cosmetically these components appear only lightly used, if not new. Unlike new components, however, no hardware is included. The only cosmetic issue with this reflector is that the original label is missing, hence the slightly reduced price.
