Hewlett Packard 10700A 33% Splitter

This item is an HP 10700A 33% Beam Splitter. It is a basic component of the Hewlett Packard Laser Interferometry Distance Measuring Apparatus. It is one of several components based on a 1 steel cube. The cube has a beam-splitting reflector set at 45-degrees and face-centered to three adjacent faces. The mirror surface is coated. These components are useful when it is desired to have three axes tied to a single laser (each axis will require its own interferometer and detector, however). The first beam-splitter in the system would be the 33% splitter, leaving roughly 66% of the beam to travel to a second 50% beam-splitter for the other two axes. In that manner each receiver will be working at approximately the same power level.
, 2nd Grade
The angle of the beam-splitter is not critically set within the cube in order to keep component prices reasonable. For precise positioning it is recommended that the beam-splitter is fixtured using a small leveling base (HP 10710A). These mounts allow for corrections in two directions. Pitch may be adjusted through several degrees about the axis of the mirror component by resetting the cradle position in the base, and yaw may be adjusted using the play in the elongated slots for securing the base. The base of the mount has an open aperture so the beam path may be directed through the base of the fixture. Beams should ONLY be deflected at right angles in each laser / detector assembly in order to avoid depolarization of the laser beams. Beams can be deflected through an aperture in the base of the mount for utmost versatility.

These components have been removed from various fixtures. They meet our requirements for second quality used interferometer components. All optical surfaces are free of serious blemishes and there are no gouges or distortions in any of the parts that would in any way impede accuracy of measurements. Cosmetically these components appear in very fine condition, although not new. Unlike new components, no hardware is included.
