UDT Model 1000 Autocollimator with Collimation Objective Tube

This is a modular autocollimator assembly manufactured by United Detector Technology (UTD). It probably dates from the early 1980’s or late 1970’s. The model 1000 autocollimator head had two different focal length lenses available, as well as several types of detectors. There is a BNC cable coming from the collimation head, but there is no beam-splitting prism present. We are not sure if a detector is within the head, or if there was some sort of light source. If it were a detector we believe there would have been some sort of quadrature sensor, in which case one would need significantly more data lines than a simple coaxial connection. The end of the autocollimator tube is an open sleeve of 1 inch diameter.Probably the more important element of this offering is the collimation objective tube. The outer diameter of the sleeve is 3.5 inches, and a flat has been milled on the bottom of the housing with 1/4-20 screw threads in three places. The focal length of the objective is 400mm, and the diameter is just shy of 2.75 inches. This is the larger of the two interchangeable objectives – the other had a focal length of 200mm.
There is a tiny chip out of the periphery of the lens that has been covered with an opaque epoxy, but the rest of the lens appears to be in perfect condition. (See last photo). It probably cuts down the effective aperture by less than 1/4 mm.

Nikon Measuring Stage with Rotary Table, 1 x 1
$250.00This Nikon measuring stage includes a clamping base that allows precise alignment of the X and Y axes. We are not sure what instrument it fits, but it was probably intended for use with their line of measuring microscopes or with some of the smaller profile projectors.
The stage has a range of motion of 1 by 1 inch with micrometer actuators. Spindles may be read directly to 0.0005 inches and to 0.0001 inches via verniers. The stage includes a graduated theta plate with two T-slots. The stage rotary motion is graduated in degrees and can be read to 2 minutes of arc via a vernier. There is a clamp for stage rotation.
Overall height of the stage is approximately 3 inches from the mounting plate reference surface. The mounting plate surface is better than 5 inches square. Overall diameter of the stage is approximately 7 inches. There is a clear bore of slightly less than 3 inches. The stage is missing the glass insert, which would have been 105mm in diameter. The stage weighs 13.75 pounds and is of massive construction.
All motions work very smoothly. The stage is in very fine condition. There is a bit of rust residue in the bottom plate but the ball-bearing ways are in perfect shape. Overall cosmetic condition is very fine.

$800.00This item is a Mark-Tech Laser detector with built-in beam-splitter. The detector portion is centered on the “off-axis” position with the pass-through clearance allowing access to a second detector located independently on the optic axis. The model number is 6421-ST, and the serial number 166 is close to that of several other Mark-Tech Laser components we have on offer (#165). Date of manufacture is mid-1988.
The detector does not include the cable or the readout unit. The mounting sleeve for the device is 1.25 inches in diameter, and it is fitted with four detents spaced in the half-way positions between the Horizontal and Vertical markings on the device. The detector appears to measure in quadrature, with plus or minus horizontal and plus or minus vertical markings on the housing.

$500.00This item is a Mark-Tech Laser Model 6415 beam-splitter. The beam-splitter is housed in their standard diameter sleeve (1.25 inches) and has detents for positioning the beam-splitter at 90 degrees intervals. The serial number 165 matches that of several other components we have on offer. The date of manufacture is mid-1988.
The beam-splitter allows for a straight shot as well as a 90-degree diversion. The device will fit the magnetic target mount. It is in exceptional cosmetic condition. Glass surfaces appear to be completely free of blemishes. The beam-splitter appears on the Mark-Tech Laser website in the photos of a type 6450 Autocollimator setup, but it is not described independently.

Zygo 7007 Fold Mirror, 1st Grade
$90.00This item is a Zygo 7007 Fold Mirror cube. It is completely interchangeable with the Hewlett-Packard type 10707A beam bender. The cube has a fully-reflecting 45-degree mirror face-centered to two adjacent faces. The mirror surface is coated.
The angle of the beam-splitter is not critically set within the cube in order to keep component prices reasonable. For precise positioning it is recommended that the beam-splitter is fixtured using a small leveling base (HP 10710A or equivalent). These mounts allow for corrections in two directions. Pitch may be adjusted through several degrees about the axis of the mirror component by resetting the cradle position in the base, and yaw may be adjusted using the play in the elongated slots for securing the base. The base of the mount has an open aperture so the beam path may be directed through the base of the fixture
These components have been removed from various fixtures. They meet our requirements for first quality used interferometer components. All optical surfaces are free of blemishes and there are no gouges or distortions in any of the parts that would in any way impede accuracy of measurements. Cosmetically these components appear only lightly used, if not new. Unlike new components, however, no hardware is included.
