Perle IOLAN SDS1P Compact Serial to Ethernet Device Server

The IOLAN SDS1 P is a compact Serial-to-Ethernet Device Server from Perle, part of the secure SDS P series. It’s designed for remote device connectivity, offering advanced security, flexibility, and compatibility with IPv4 and IPv6 networks.

It comes with a single serial port (RJ-45 interface), which is software-selectable for RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485. It includes Power over Ethernet (802.3af PoE) support, enabling network-only power deployment—especially handy for environments without easy access to AC power.

Networking specs include 10/100Base-TX Fast Ethernet, with auto-negotiation for speed and duplex. 

Security & management capabilities are robust: data encryption (AES, 3DES, Blowfish, etc.), authentication options (RADIUS, LDAP, TACACS+, Kerberos, etc.), SNMP v3, Syslog, email/SNMP alerts, and centralized management via Perle’s Device Manager or CLI tools.

Hardware specs include a MPC852T processor (66 MHz, ~87 MIPS), 32 MB RAM, and 8 MB flash for the SDS P line. It also delivers 15 kV ESD protection, magnetic isolation on Ethernet ports, and is housed in a rugged SECC zinc-plated enclosure.

Environmental and reliability figures: MTBF ~344,227 hours for the 1-port SDS P unit; operating temp ranges from 0 °C to 55 °C, storage from –40 °C to 66 °C. Supports wall or DIN-rail mounting.
