This is the entire upper portion of the Diagnostic Instruments boom stand with laminated baseplate, less the actual baseplate. The pillar base support is intended to be installed on a 0.75 inch thick base with standoffs (feet) that are at least 0.5 inchs tall for clearance of the reinforcing plate.

The removable column is 19 inches in height. The column includes a clamping ring for supporting the microscope carrier arm. The carrier arm includes a socket to accept the standard pin from the Bausch & Lomb focusing yoke (E-arm).

Condition of the system is superb.

This is one of the examples of when a ‘generic’ copy of a classic item is better in some respects than the original. The overall dimensions of this stand are patterned after the Bausch & Lomb S-stand. There are some nice improvements, however. The sliding elements have a plastic sleeve so there is virtually no wear to the components and the tolerances are kept very tight. The supporting ring is also very substantial. Like the S-stand, the horizontal boom has a channel to prevent tipping during adjustments. The clamping knobs are very substantial and are much less likely to fail. The clamping bridge at the end of the boom is captive so one needn’t worry about loss when no arm is installed. The boom accepts all standard pin-type accessories.

These stands are in superb condition with only very minor blemishes to the paint finish.

This Bausch & Lomb S-Stand has become the industry-standard for many years. The base is 10 inches square with a 15.75 inch tall column 1.480 inches in diameter. The boom arm is 1.5 inches in diameter and 19 inches long. It terminates in a block with a vertical bore that accepts pin-type focus blocks such as the E-arm and ER-arm. The horizontal boom has a channel running its length that fits the end of the clamp screw so that it will not tip as it is being extended. The vertical column includes a clamping ring for supporting the cross-block.

The stands are in excellent condition. The horizontal boom includes the clamping segments that are often missing from end piece.

This is an earlier version Diagnostic Instrument boom stand. It is equipped with a white laminated wood base 20 inches square. At the rear of the base is a removable column 19 inches in height. The column includes a clamping ring for supporting the microscope carrier arm. The carrier arm includes a socket to accept the standard pin from the Bausch & Lomb focusing yoke (E-arm).

Condition is excellent except for a small bit of delamination on the rear edge (see photo).

This adapter allows one to use the industry-standard boom stand that accepts standard Bausch & Lomb pin-type accessories (focus drives, etc) with focus drives that use a 25mm diameter post. The post has a knuckle joint that allows the inclination to be adjusted through an angle of greater than 120 degrees. Overall length of the post is approximately 150mm. There is a keeper nut on the end of the post.

These posts are in excellent condition and very nicely made.
