85mm Diameter Collimation Mirror from SPEX monochromator
$280.00This mirror was removed from a SPEX Czerney-Turner monochromator. It is believed to have a focal length of � meter. The mirror diameter is 85mm and is held on an aluminum bracket with adjustments for collimation angle. Focus is achieved using a guide bar within the monochromator housing that fits a channel in the base plate. Motion is imparted to the holder by a special lead screw with a groove that sits in a fixed aperture within the monochromator (see third photo).
Dimensions of the baseplate are 4 inches wide and 5 inches deep. The front mirror surface is approximately 2.5 inches in front of the rear edge of the base. The optic axis is approximately 2.75 inches from the base.
The mirror is aluminum coated, and appears to be free of blemishes with two minor exceptions. There is a very faint smudge near the center of the mirror which we did not attempt to clean (it was too faint to show in the photos), and a very fine hairline scratch in the coating. This is visible just above the hold down clamp in the last photo.

When we got this instrument it was covered in reflective tape � obviously prepped for some spacecraft or high-altitude mission. There are no adjustments to the monochromator, so there must have been a camera system that acquired the spectrum. The slit is fixed in one position and not adjustable in width. It appears to be about 0.1mm wide (rough estimate). The system appears to be in near-perfect condition, however, there are a couple of rub marks on one of the collimation mirrors near the margin.
There is a circular mounting plate that I assume held the acquisition system. There are a few degrees of freedom in the alignment of the plate. The slit is in the base of the monochromator (as seen in the first photo) whereupon the light is directed to a mirror that sends it to the first collimation mirror. The grating element itself is just beneath the large aperture facing forward in the second photo. The grating substrate is convex and fixed in place. It appears to be about 25 to 30mm in diameter (I did not open up the instrument), and the two collimation mirrors appear to be about 75mm in diameter � again, just an estimate. The second collimation mirror directs the spectrum to the camera port.
There is a sticker on the instrument that identifies the manufacturer as �American Holographic�. The same sticker identifies the item as a catalog SP00298-01, serial number M2-016.

$300.00This is an unusual accessory for the McPherson Model 218 UV � Vacuum Scanning Monochromator.
It is a camera attachment for use with pieces of specially cut film. The film may be translated vertically (parallel to the slit) via a micrometer spindle.
The film is exposed via a simple sliding shutter arrangement.In order to install the attachment, it is necessary to remove the knife-edge slit system from the exit port of the monochromator. This modification is something that may not be easily reversed.
The camera attachment is in excellent and fully functional condition, although very obsolete.

Camera Port Adapter for TMD Microscope (no
$100.00This device permits using the bright-field vertical illuminator port on the Unitron TMD toolmaker’s microscope for both illumination and photography. It consists of a fixed beam-splitter housing along with a side-mounted collector lens for an external lamphouse (not included). On top of the beam-splitter housing is an adapter tube that accepts a photographic camera adapter (not included).
The overall height of the device (not including the mounting sleeve for the microscope) is 113mm. This distance can be altered through a small range with the helical thread of the upper sleeve and clamping collar. Diameter of the sleeve for the microscope port is 28.95mm. The inside diameter of the photo port 33mm. The flange for attachment of the lamphousing is 24mm in diameter.
The adapters are in very fine condition � optically perfect but with a few purely cosmetic blemishes in the finishes.

Microscope with 10x Crossline 32mm
$300.00This microscope is very modular. The central component is the drawtube with focusing mechanism. The body of the instrument is fitted with a long 1 inch diameter threaded flange which is supplied with a locking ring. The thread allows the microscope to be attached to various Gaertner instruments, such as the precisions cross slides, instrument bases with cross-support arms, among others. The rack and pinions focusing has a range of 38mm. The nominal optical tube length of the microscope is 160mm.
Eyepieces are supplied with matched eyepiece adapter tubes so the optical tube length is maintained when switching eyepieces. The tube adapters are usually fitted with spider cross lines and therefore no attempt should be made to clean them! These microscopes are all fitted with the standard M250-242 adapter tube with 90 degree spider lines. The ocular is a type M242 Ramsden 10x, also standard.
Gaertner objectives are continuously threaded over their entire length (RMS standard thread) and have a locking ring. The continuous thread allows precise adjustment of the magnification ratio of the instrument when using micrometer eyepieces or filar eyepieces. Focal length of the objectives supplied with these instruments is 32mm (Gaertner part number M220).
As outfitted, the instrument has the following characteristics:

� 2.75mm diameter object fieldAn optional component, the image erecting eyepiece adapter, may be installed instead of the eyepiece adapter tube. On the output slit is a Products for Research PMT housing. The two collimation mirrors have a very faint haze � no cleaning has been attempted! The grating is a B&L type 35-23-06-960 with 1200 g/mm and a blaze angle of 26 degrees, 45 minutes. The grating appears to be in near-flawless condition � no haze or scratches of any kind. Controller for grating position will need to be sourced separately. There also appears to be a motor drive for scanning the input slit. Connection is via a BNC cable. Overall condition of the instrument is extremely fine. Serial number is 3513.

Mark-Tech Laser Magnetic Target Mount for repair
$200.00Mark-Tech Laser mounting for targets and beam-splitters. Magnetic actuator needs repair. Mount is 4.25 inches wide, 5.625 inches long. Optic axis height is nominally 2.5 inches. There are large diameter super-fine pitch adjustment screws for Y and Z translation (parallel to optic axis).
Bore diameter of holder is 1.25 inches. There is a large spring-loaded bearing that engages the detents in the mirror or detector cells. The base has a switchable permanent magnet for secure clamping. There are also three mounting holes (clearance for �-20 bolts) that are concentric with the leveling pads which are fixed in place.
Mounts are in very nice condition but there is some wear in finish of the base paint. Magnetic actuator needs repair. Part number on the mount is 6412 and it is dated April 1988.

$275.00This item is a Keuffel & Esser optical and metrology cradle mount. It has the standard 3.5 inch by 8 TPI thread in the base for attaching to standard tripods, dollies, and trivets. The upper side of the carrier has a dovetail four inches wide but 10 inches in length. There is a cylinder head cap screw on one end of the dovetail, and it looks like there is a position for a second such stop screw, however it is not present. The mount is in very good condition. The part number on the cradle is 71-5082. It does not seem to be a current production item � BrunsonKC does not list it in their catalog. The green texture paint would indicate the cradle was made during the 1960�s, possibly early 1970�s.

The mirror is used in conjunction with various 1.5� cube interferometer bodies. Unlike a corner-cube retroreflector, the plane mirror must be critically aligned to the interferometer. The leveling screws are not present and the special spring-loaded attachment screws are lacking. The device is also missing the label, but is otherwise in excellent condition. Mirror is flawless. Because of the missing components and the light cosmetic blemishes in the chrome finish this item has been rated as �second grade�.

HP 10706A Plane Mirror Interferometer
$275.00This item is an HP 10706A Plane Mirror Interferometer, but it is lacking the reference mirror component (HP 10724A). This item is one of the �medium-sized (1.5� cube)� components in the Hewlett-Packard Laser Interferometer Dimensional Measurement Apparatus. The interferometer ordinarily consists of several assemblies. The cube assembly (present here) is a beam-splitting interferometer, type 10706A, which consists of a beam-splitter cube that plane polarizes the light. On either side of the cube would be mounted a type HP 10703A Retroreflector. The further addition of an HP 10722A optical wedge would allow the receiver to move relative to the interferometer body. The laser is on the opposite side from the receiver.
The angle of the beam-splitter is not critically set within the cube in order to keep component prices reasonable. For precise positioning it is recommended that the beam-splitter is fixtured using a large leveling base (HP 10711A). These mounts allow for corrections in two directions. Pitch may be adjusted through several degrees about the axis of the mirror component by resetting the cradle position in the base, and yaw may be adjusted using the play in the elongated slots for securing the base. The base of the mount has an open aperture so the beam path may be directed through the base of the fixture. Beams should ONLY be deflected at right angles in each laser / detector assembly in order to avoid depolarization of the laser beams.
These components have been removed from various fixtures. They meet our requirements for second quality used interferometer components. All optical surfaces are free of blemishes and there are no gouges or distortions in any of the parts that would in any way impede accuracy of measurements. Cosmetically these components do have some minor issues. Some of the dress plastic baffles that are inset into the steel frames are absent, and there are some minor scratches in the steel frames. No hardware is included with the interferometer body.
