Collimator Tube with 48mm Objective, 180mm
$100.00This item appears to be the business end of a collimator telescope. The outer barrel is 2.75 inches in diameter and there are centering screws in two locations on the barrel, one set for the objective cell, and the other set for an internal mounting ring which is currently empty. The objective clear aperture is 48mm. The objective is coated and is in excellent condition with the exception of a small scratch near the margin (see second photo).
The opposite end of the tube is threaded to receive a multiple-thread helical focusing mount with a 1.94 inch internal diameter (six threads). The focal length of the objective appears to be approximately 175 to 180mm, which would place the focal point at the plane of the empty internal centering ring. Overall length of the tube (without helical adapter) is
207mm.The only markings on the assembly are a hand-painted part number, GPE-9289.

Gaertner Spatial Filter Assembly for Holography
$299.00This spatial filter is one of the several components that comprised the MOD II Gaertner ‘Improved Holographic System’. It consists of a housing which holds an interchangeable 10x microscope objective, and an interchangeable pinhole diaphragm. The microscope objective is held in place by a threaded collar. The position of the collar is adjustable along the optic axis by a large knurled screw in the pin-hole side of the housing. The pinhole is held in place magnetically, and may be centered to the optic axis using a pair of knurled centering screws. The housing also has a position for a special shutter release cable, but this is not included. The shutter release cable had a small shutter blade attached to the plunger that acted as the shutter.
The housing includes a 13mm diameter rod, 100mm long. Diameter of the pinhole is not specified on the pinhole carrier, but the normally supplied diameter was approximately 25 microns.
The filter is in excellent condition, and all included parts function properly. The objective is in perfect optical condition.

Zygo 2002-2 Interferometer Body
$600.00This appears to be some sort of interferometer unit for use in a metrology laser distance measurement system. There are two numbers on the part, on one face is 9202, and on the opposite face is 2002-2. There is a fiber optic coupler (FC connector?) on one face, and on the opposite side is a modestly sized aperture. There is a third aperture on one of the two remaining narrow faces.
When looking in the larger aperture the two other apertures are seen side-by-side. This unit lacks the magnetic alignment mirror (present on the other unit we have in stock).
Zygo did manufacture a laser interferometry distance measurement system similar to the well-known Hewlett Packard system, and in fact many components could be directly substituted. This does not appear to be a current product, but dimensionally closely resembles the Compact 1-axis HSPMI Interferometer. It is in superb condition – indeed it looks almost unused.

Quadrature Sensor with Target and 0.009 Inch
$1,300.00This item appears to be some sort of quadrature position sensing device, most likely used with a laser collimation system. The main housing, of heavy stainless steel, carries two labels. The first is a Keufel and Esser label with a part number ’71 2627′, and the second is a Cubic Precision final inspection sticker.
The main sleeve diameter is 2.250 inches, and the sleeve is 1 inch in length. The sleeve is stepped down to a diameter of 1.500 inches, and the step has black lacquer with four quadrant lines, three in white, and one in red. On the face of the stepped piece is a cover with a target circle 0.375 inches in diameter. The cover, when removed, reveals the active quadrature detector segments, each of which is bisected by one of the quadrant lines on the step. There is a cable from the rear of the housing with a special polarized nine-pin plug. We do not have the readout unit.
The second item furnished with the detector is a calibration plate in a sleeve mount that slides over the inner step. It has a red dot on it which I assume is supposed to be aligned with the red index mark. The cell for the plate is engraved ‘CALIBRATION .009 IN’. The glass plate is held at an angle within the cell and offsets the incident beam by exactly .009 inches in the direction of the red dot.
We have no way to test the detector, but there is no reason to believe it is not fully functional. The overall condition appears to be near perfect. There aren’t even any score marks on the main sleeve.

Simple Microscope Body
$50.00This is the simple Gaertner microscope body. It consists of a sleeve mount with a thumb screw for positioning a drawtube which is threaded on one end to hold an objective. The other end is a straight tube to accept various eyepiece tube adapter sleeves. The outer body has a 1 inch diameter thread so the microscope may be attached to various Gaertner instruments.
Because the sleeve does not have a rack and pinion for precise focus adjustment, the simple tubes are best used with the lower magnification objectives. For similar reasons, measuring reticles are best used in the rack and pinion versions because it is more difficult to precisely focus this type of tube.
The microscope bodies are in good condition. Mechanically they all work properly. This listing is for the microscope body only. It does not include objective, eyepiece adapter, or eyepiece. Please note that these instruments do not have locking collars on the microscope attachment thread.

Micrometer Slide 2 Inch Travel (0.0001) with Post
$325.00The Gaertner Scientific M301A micrometer slide has two inches of travel. The carriage is threaded to accept the standard Gaertner measuring microscopes and telemicroscopes. The carriage ways are precision hand-scraped, and the leadscrew is hand-lapped to the nut. There is a special cam that tilts the nut as the carriage is positioned, thereby correcting any residual errors in the pitch of the lead screw.
There is a two inch scale to indicate the coarse position of the carriage, and a precision graduated drum to indicate the fine position directly to 0.0005 inches, and to 0.0001 inches via the vernier. A 19mm diameter post, 6 inches in length is permanently attached to the slide.
The slide is in excellent condition, and has been cleaned and relubricated.
