This is a Newport ST47-75 Adjustable-Angle V-Groove Post Support. 40mm high, �46 mm base.
Manufacturer’s Description:
ST47 V-Groove Post Supports come on a 46 mm diameter base which mounts directly on a table. Support ST47 has a rotating block which makes it possible to rotate the post from the vertical axis to the horizontal axis. The stem is tightened by a broad knurled knob which ensures high stability.

This used Newport BUP-2 Universal Base is in good working condition. This unit is missing one (1) of the ball bearings.

From manufacturer website: Newport�s BUP-2 Universal Base incorporates a patented mounting device that gives unprecedented positioning flexibility. A freely rotating disk, inset into each base, has an eccentric clearance slot to accommodate a 1/4-20 or M6 tie-down bolt. This single bolt firmly clamps the assembly to your table surface. The slot permits 0.707 in. of translation � at least half the diagonal distance between holes in Newport�s English and metric tables, breadboards and mounting components like lab jacks and stages. Thus it is always possible to find a mounting hole through the clearance slot by rotating the trapped disc; the bases can be freely positioned anywhere, at any orientation, on your table surface

This is a Newport Research Corp (NRC) BUP-2 Universal Base, Freely Rotating Disk, Eccentric Clearence Slot.

This is a beautifully made Spindler & Hoyer adjustable micrometer slit. The slit is actuated by a very fine threaded screw that drives a wedge against two flats milled into the corners of the slit blade carriers. It can be set anywhere between fully closed and approximately 3.8mm. The orientation of the slit is also adjustable � the entire slit carrier rotates on its carrier. There are two adjustable stops so the slit orientation is either horizontal or vertical at the extremes of motion. Slit height is 25mm. The diameter of the slit plate is 120mm.

The device is pin mounted (diameter is standard 13.7mm). The tripod base has two leveling feet and a small circular bubble level. There is a white scribe mark in the pin which, when set flush with the top of the support, places the slit at a height of 245mm above the table top (with the base leveled).

The instrument is in very fine condition � there are a few very tiny chips in the paint of the base, and the adjustment screw for the slit is slightly bent (but the bend is beyond the limits of its travel so it does not affect function).
