  • Objective from Older Black Stereo Microscope

    $80.00

This is an objective from the older black Zeiss stereo microscope that uses a drum to change the magnifications. The cell is has some minor corrosion and a few small nicks, but the thread for attaching to the microscope is undamaged. The glass is clear and in excellent condition, without scratches. The glass is not coated.

This is an ideal lens for someone who has one of these instruments with a broken or otherwise compromised objective. The outer portion of the mounting cell has a diamond knurl which masks an external mounting thread for the attachment of accessories. This thread is also in excellent condition.

  • Objective from Older Black Stereo Microscope

    $50.00

This is an objective from the older black Zeiss stereo microscope that uses a drum to change the magnifications. The cell is very corroded but the thread for attaching to the microscope is undamaged. The outer glass element has two blemishes. The first is about 5mm from the edge and about 4mm in extent. The second is much smaller (less than 1mm) but is located nearer to the center of the lens. It is possible to orient the objective in a manner that neither blemish falls within the optic axis of either side of the microscope. The rest of the glass is clear and without scratches.

This is an ideal lens for someone who has one of these instruments with a broken or otherwise severely compromised objective. The glass elements are not easily extracted from the housing. The retaining ring can be unthreaded easily but the glass remains fast in the cell. If you desire to install them in your own housing it would probably be best to carefully file a slot in the cell so it could be split without risk of damage to the glass elements.

  • Swing-Out Condenser, 1.3 n.a., Earlier Type

    $80.00

This is an example of the earlier Zeiss swing-out condenser. The numerical aperture of the upper element is 1.30. When swung to the side, the condenser aperture is 0.32. There is an iris diaphragm for control of aperture. It has the standard Z-ring for mounting on the condenser carriers found on most of the ‘Gray-line’ Zeiss instruments.

While optically in great condition, the condenser has some cosmetic issues. Someone ground off opposite sides of the upper lens mount and the chrome plating has peeled from most of the bezel. The retaining ring for the clear glass plate above the iris diaphragm has some minor paint loss. There appears to be one leaf in the diaphragm that isn’t moving correctly, leaving a slight tear-drop shape to the aperture when it has been mostly closed (see photo of under side).

The oil-immersion 1.3 n.a. condensers are relatively scarce compared to the 0.90 type. This is a very serviceable item.

  • Bausch & Lomb (B&L) Early Type Pillar Stand in

    $100.00

This is an older version of the S-stand. It features a ‘hat-shaped’ base approximately 10 inches in diameter with three bores for bolting the base to the work surface. The pillar is 12 inches tall with a vertical excursion range of 8.5 inches. The cross-knuckle includes a separate clamping support. The boom ihas been cut down from 20 inches in length to 10 inches, leaving only about 4 inches of travel. It is of heavy chrome plated steel. The boom accepts the pin mounts of the E-Arm carriers (0.625 inch diameter) with bores both parallel and perpendicular to the boom.

The stands are in decent condition with a crinkle gray finish. The pillars and booms do show evidence of corrosion and there are cosmetic blemishes in the paint finish, but they are structurally sound. Both of the plastic clamping knobs on the cross-knuckle are absent, but the clamping screws are still in place. These stands would be most suitable for application where the microscope does not have to be moved frequently.

  • GZ-4 Stereo Microscope Pod 0.7x to 3x

    $225.00

This Leica GZ4 (the successor of the venerable Bausch & Lomb StereoZoom 4) has the same zoom range (0.7x to 3x) as the former instrument. The shroud and knobs are made of ESD plastic for safe use in clean room / semiconductor manufacture environments. The housing has a circular mounting ring that allows the instrument to turn on its optic axis.

The microscope has been checked for proper operation and alignment at the time of listing. The images are very crisp and clear. Also included is the focusing yoke with the standard 0.625 inch pin attachment. The knobs on both the focus drive and the zoom adjustment have yellowed a bit, as has the plastic housing of the instrument. This is more noticeable where some asset labels have been removed. Otherwise the instrument is in superb cosmetic condition.

Please note that no oculars (eyepieces) are included with this microscope. Tubes are 23 mm.

  • Small Version of KT Stand for use with E-Arm Focus

    $120.00

This is a variant of the KT-Stand from Bausch & Lomb. It uses an 8.75 by 12 inch Bakelite baseplate onto which is mounted a special focus drive with a holder for the pin-type E-arm or ER-arm. (The normal KT stand uses a 15.75 by 12 inch base). The pin carrier is mounted on a steel plate with a channel allowing the carrier to be moved independently of the rack & pinion drive. The rack & pinion provides approximately 2 inches of motion, with another 2 inches provided by the pin carrier clamp. Add to these motions the 2 inches of motion gained from the rack & pinion in the E-arm and you have a setup capable of examining very tall samples.

The stand is in excellent condition and includes the special clamping segments for the E-arm. The E-arm will need to be purchased separately. We have a large variety available.

  • Diagnostic Instruments Boom Stand with T-

    $120.00

This is one of the examples of when a ‘generic’ copy of a classic item is better in some respects than the original. The overall dimensions of this stand are patterned after the Bausch & Lomb S-stand. There are some nice improvements, however. The sliding elements have a plastic sleeve so there is virtually no wear to the components and the tolerances are kept very tight. The supporting ring is also very substantial. Like the S-stand, the horizontal boom has a channel to prevent tipping during adjustments. The clamping knobs are very substantial and are much less likely to fail. The clamping bridge at the end of the boom is captive so one needn’t worry about loss when no arm is installed. The boom accepts all standard pin-type accessories.

These stands are in excellent cosmetic condition and perfect functional condition. The bases do show blemishes in the paint finish.
