This is an Oriel Corp 77501 Fiber Optic Illuminator
This unit has been modified to run a 50 watt Halogen bulb. Also the iris has been changed or modified to not fully close.

Manufacturer Description
The 77501is a highly stable, VIS-NIR large core fiber illuminator.
The spot size is 6 mm, so it is not recommended for small core fibers. The 77501 also includes a number of built-in convenience features:

Filter holder for 1-inch (25.4 mm) diameter filters, so you can shape the output
Light shutter to cut off all the light without shutting down the power supply
Variable iris so you can change the light level without changing the voltage

This unit came from a working environment and has been tested working.
