⚙️ Overview

The Fastcom ESCC‑PCI‑335 is a high-performance dual-channel PCI serial adapter designed for industrial applications. It supports both synchronous and asynchronous communications and is equipped with the Siemens 82532 Enhanced Serial Communication Controller (ESCC)

• Interface Type: Universal 32-bit PCI (compliant with PCI Version 2.3), compatible with both 5 V and 3.3 V slots (including PCI-X)

• Channels: Two independent ports, each offering configurable synchronous or asynchronous operation

• Supported Protocols: HDLC, SDLC, BISYNC, ASYNC, X.25 LAP‑B, and ISDN LAP‑D

• Data Rates: Capable of up to 6.25 Mbit/s in asynchronous mode, and up to 10 Mbit/s in synchronous mode depending on system factors like CPU load and cabling quality

• Buffering: Each channel provides 64-byte FIFO buffers (Tx and Rx), minimizing CPU overhead and improving throughput

📌 Connectors & Cabling

• DB37 Port: Multi-signal female DB37 connector on the card, typically wired to a DB37-to-4×DB9 breakout cable assembly

• Signal Support: Full set of RS‑422/RS‑485 signals (Tx, Rx, RTS, CTS, ST, DCD, DSR, etc.), compliant with the ANSI/EIA/TIA‑530‑A standard

🧰 Features & Configuration

• Programmable Clock Generator: Adjustable clock frequency between ~6 MHz and up to 33 MHz allows dynamic baud‑rate configuration. The card supports sampling rates of 8× or 16× per bit, enabling high-speed operation beyond 3.125 Mbit/s if 8× sampling is selected

• Hardware Control: Includes hardware-based auto-initiation for RS‑485 direction, RTS-driven direction switching, and optional Rx‑echo cancellation for half‑duplex operation

• Status LEDs: On-board LEDs indicate transmit and receive activity for both ports, useful for diagnostics or development

• Software Drivers: Provided for Windows (2000, XP, etc.) and Linux, with example programs and testing utilities (e.g. loopback plug diagnostics)
