This used Cambridge Instruments SZ-4 is a StereoZoom 4 microscope head (binocular body). The SZ-4 design is one of the most popular stereo microscopes of all time , originally manufactured by Bausch & Lomb and later taken over by Leica and also marketed under the Cambridge Instruments name . These microscopes were introduced in 1959 and manufactured through 2000 .
The SZ-4 features a 0.7x to 3x continuous zoom range and a 1:4.3 zoom ratio . When fitted with standard 10x eyepieces, the SZ-4 provides a total magnification range of 7x to 30x . The head includes a 30-degree inclined binocular head, adjustable diopters for both eyepiece tubes, and a wide interpupillary distance range of 52mm–72mm .
The SZ-4 is still widely used today for quality control applications due to its crisp images and reliability . It is compatible with original Bausch & Lomb StereoZoom components and accessories, allowing for trouble-free integration into existing setups .
