From Newport/Barry 1995 press release: The STACIS 2000 system is designed specifically for use in semiconductor fabrication facilities to achieve higher chip density and yield by keeping precision machinery and equipment in complete stasis, even when large excitation forces occur. Using external forces to modify or compensate for the dynamic properties of the system, the STACIS 2000 controls vibration in all six degrees of freedom, starting at 0.3Hz. Fifteen piezoceramic actuators distributed over the payload achieve this unique level of isolation.
