Spencer Lens Triple Objective Turret (RMS

$35.00

This is an interesting antique triple position revolving nosepiece. It is marked ‘Spencer Lens Company’ which dates it before the mid-1930’s takeover of that firm by the American Optical Company. The nosepiece has the standard RMS threads in all positions. The detent mechanism is very interesting and unique. At each threaded objective position a steel rod with a slot has been inserted through a bore on the periphery of the nosepiece. An internal spring arrests the nosepiece at each stop position. The nosepiece has a fixed RMS thread for attachment to various microscope tubes with a nickel-plated collar used to lock the nosepiece in the proper orientation.

The nosepiece is in excellent condition. There is some minor wear in the black lacquer finish, but the detent spring is strong with very positive stops at each position. This would date from the late 1920’s to early 1930’s.
