Leitz Mask Holder for 4×4 Microscope Stage

This item is a Leitz Mask Holder it attaches to the side of the Marzhauser 4.25 x 4.25 inch travel stage as supplied with several of the Leitz semi-conductor inspection microscopes. The holder features and adjustable stop so masks up to 4×4 can be accommodated (minimum size is 25 mm square) The stage also has a pivot point concentric with the attachment screw. This pivot allows the geometry of the mask to be set perfectly parallel with the XY motions of the stage. Theta rotation is regulated by a small set screw on the side of the holder which bears against the side of the stage. On the opposite side of the pivot point is a spring-loaded plunger so the established theta angle is held. Adjustment is possible through an angle of approximately three degrees.

This holder is in superb condition. It will probably work with most of the similar stages Marzhauser supplied to other manufactures as well. Marzhauser designation for the stage this fits is EK 100×100, sometimes referred to as an EK-8 stage. I know Marzhauser supplied stages to Zeiss and Nikon, possibly others. All that is required to use the holder is a single tapped hole midway along the side of the upper stage plate. It would be easy to adapt this holder to many stages in which the entire upper plate moves in both X and Y (sometimes called a triple-plate or three-level stage).
