This is a post translator for an optical bench carrier. There is a threaded hole in the base of the translator which may be intended for a pin. If so, it does not appear ever to have been installed. There are two bores in the part that moves relative to the base. One is in line with the threaded bore, the other is in a carrier that is offset from the upper part of the translator. The bore diameters are identical (0.540 inches). Both are supplied with clamp screws.
The translator is driven by a leadscrew and has 60mm of travel. Position may be read out to 0.1mm via a vernier. The item is in excellent condition.
