This is an incomplete infrared lens assembly manufactured by Diversified Optical Products, a company recently acquired by Axsys Technologies. The rear element is present as is the complete focusing mount. The front element retaining ring is present but the element itself is missing.
The lens appears to be made of Germanium, given the optimized transmission range of 8 to 12 microns. It is coated, but completely opaque to visible light. The rear element system has a clear diameter of 40mm at the back of the mount, and somewhat smaller in front. Slightly concave rear, convex front. The diameter of the missing front element would have been approximately 68mm. Diameter of the mount is 90mm (not including the four ‘ears’ for the bolt circle). At its focus mount has a range of about 6mm with the mount ranging from 81mm to 87mm in length.
The mount is engraved 50mm f/0.8, 8 – 12u, DIOP 1HT10, S/N 22523-004.
