Diagnostic Instruments Boom Stand with T-
$130.00This is one of the examples of when a ‘generic’ copy of a classic item is better in some respects than the original. The overall dimensions of this stand are patterned after the Bausch & Lomb S-stand. There are some nice improvements, however. The sliding elements have a plastic sleeve so there is virtually no wear to the components and the tolerances are kept very tight. The supporting ring is also very substantial. Like the S-stand, the horizontal boom has a channel to prevent tipping during adjustments. The clamping knobs are very substantial and are much less likely to fail. The clamping bridge at the end of the boom is captive so one needn’t worry about loss when no arm is installed. The boom accepts all standard pin-type accessories.
These stands are in superb condition with only very minor blemishes to the paint finish.

Bausch & Lomb (B&L) 31-27-14 Boom Stand for
$215.00This Bausch & Lomb S-Stand has become the industry-standard for many years. The base is 10 inches square with a 15.75 inch tall column 1.480 inches in diameter. The boom arm is 1.5 inches in diameter and 19 inches long. It terminates in a block with a vertical bore that accepts pin-type focus blocks such as the E-arm and ER-arm. The horizontal boom has a channel running its length that fits the end of the clamp screw so that it will not tip as it is being extended. The vertical column includes a clamping ring for supporting the cross-block.
The stands are in excellent condition. The horizontal boom includes the clamping segments that are often missing from end piece.

Diagnostic Instruments Laminated Base Boom
$280.00This is an earlier version Diagnostic Instrument boom stand. It is equipped with a white laminated wood base 20 inches square. At the rear of the base is a removable column 19 inches in height. The column includes a clamping ring for supporting the microscope carrier arm. The carrier arm includes a socket to accept the standard pin from the Bausch & Lomb focusing yoke (E-arm).
Condition is excellent except for a small bit of delamination on the rear edge (see photo).

25mm Knuckle Joint, Sleeve Type, with Stop
$45.00This knuckle adapter incorporates a 25mm diameter post of approximately 150mm length. The bore for the transverse portion of the adapter is 31.29mm in diameter. It fits the horizontal boom of some of the earlier Sciencscope boom stands, and may fit some other brands as well. The knuckle joint allows the inclination to be set through a range of 180 degrees. The clamp lever is articulated so it may be swung out of the way. There is a keeper nut at the end of the post.
These posts are in excellent condition.

Stereo Microscope, 0.7x to 4.5x, with Focus Drive
$150.00This instrument appears to be patterned after one of the Motic or Unitron stereo microscope models. It is of recent vintage but is not currently in production. Construction is a bit more substantial than found on the SSZ model with all-metal ocular tubes. The magnification is adjustable from 0.7x to 4.5x, conveniently read from either of the zoom knobs. The body accepts 30mm diameter oculars, but none are included with the instrument.
A focus yoke is included that has a rack & pinion adjustment with a range of 50mm. The yoke is intended to be mounted on 25mm diameter pillars or rods. Center-to-center distance of the 25mm bore to the optic axis is 100mm. Yoke diameter is 83mm.
The instruments have been cleaned and alignment checked. Zoom is fully functional. The microscopes may have a few minor scuff marks but in general are in very fine condition.

$90.00This Scienscope stereo microscope is patterned after an older Olympus instrument. It features low-slung ocular tubes that accept 30mm diameter oculars. Both eyetubes have adjustable dioptre rings. The zoom range is 0.7x to 4x, accomplished by turning a graduated ring in the center of the microscope body.
The microscope includes a focusing yoke with an excursion of 50mm via rack & pinion. The yoke is intended for attachment to a 25mm diameter column. Distance from the center of the pillar bore to the center of the microscope yoke is 100mm.
The microscopes show evidence of much use, but they have been cleaned and checked for proper operation and alignment. On some of the instruments the bottom cowling bottoms against the base of the yoke. If frequent axial turning is required the cowling would need to be backed off slightly.

Pillar Stand for Stereo Microscope with 64mm
$260.00This Swift pillar stand includes a focusing yoke for a Model Eight Eighty stereo microscope. The stand is in superb condition. Overall height is 13.5 inches with a 25mm diameter 11 inch column. Vertical travel of 6 inches is possible. The 17.5 inch horizontal boom has a massive fixed counterweight. On the opposite end is an unusual horizontal knuckle joint with clamp screw. Greater than 7 inches of horizontal travel are possible. The focus yoke is installed using a standard 0.625 inch pin. It has a rack and pinion drive with 70mm excursion and a 64mm diameter clamping ring.
Also included is a small lamphouse that fits into an adjustable inclination holder within the focus yoke. The lamphouse does not include a transformer. The lead set from the socket is equipped with standard banana plugs. The lamp is a standard 6V 20W GE 778 halogen bulb. The socket appears to be in perfect condition.
The model Eight-Eighty microscope that came with the stand has a completely frozen zoom mechanism and the alignment is slightly out, therefore we are selling this stand along with the illuminator separately. It is in near perfect cosmetic condition but will require a great deal of work to repair. If you have an interest in the microscope pod please inquire. We would be willing to sell it as-is.

Oculars and auxiliary lenses are not included. This is a later version of the pod (gray finish, with shorter ocular tubes). The optics are in superb condition (no scratches, and coatings excellent). All pods have passed tests checking for parfocality while zooming and proper alignment. All are excellent. Pod exteriors may show modest signs of use. A typical pod was used for the photographs.

Bausch & Lomb StereoZoom 3 Pod, 1x to
$90.00This is the entry-level version of the classic Bausch & Lomb stereo zoom microscope ‘pod’. It has a zoom range of 1x to 2.5x. Magnification can be further varied by exchanging the oculars (B&L has eyepiece pairs from 10x to 33x designed for use with the stereo pods), or by threading an auxiliary objective adapter onto the front of the pod. The later are available in various magnifications from 0.3x to 2x, but they alter the working distance of the pod. This yields a magnification range of 3x to 160x depending on the combination of oculars and auxiliary lenses selected.
This pod is in excellent cosmetic condition and exceptional optical/mechanical condition. It represents the later generation instruments with black lower body and prism housing. The dust seals beneath the ocular tubes are present and pliable. Alignment is excellent. These will be checked for proper zoom function and relubricated when warranted before they are posted. The lubricants on older pods tend to become rather tacky and the result is an image jump during zooming. Replacing the lubricant on the zoom cams and the guide ledges will correct this issue.
Pod catalog number is 31-26-93. With standard 10x oculars (not included) the field diameter ranges from 20mm at 1x to 8mm at 2.5x, with a working distance of 100mm. Instrument remains in focus throughout the zoom range.
To make a complete instrument you need a focusing yoke (included with some of the simpler stand versions), a support stand, and a pair of oculars. Optional needs would include an illumination source. Inquire regarding the availability of complete systems or multiple units.

This unit consists of a large measuring ocular for a Unitron toolmaker’s microscope. The barrel diameter is 30 mm, so it will not fit the smaller instruments. It is engraved ‘WF, D 10X’, and has UNITRON in the modern extended block letter logo. I believe the ‘D’ denotes diopter, meaning the eyelens is focusable.
The ocular has a carrier cell with a measuring reticle installed – looks like 20 mm in 200 divisions, numbered every 10. The ocular appears to be in mint condition – there are no marks anywhere on the barrel, and the glass is perfect.
