This used Kodak KIR-310-214 is a research-grade infrared camera based on Platinum Silicide (PtSi) Schottky-barrier detector technology . The camera features a 310 × 214 pixel array (consistent with PtSi arrays of that era) and operates in the Medium-Wave Infrared (MWIR) band (3–5 µm) . It was developed and manufactured by Aerojet for high-performance IR imaging applications, offering very high image quality and resolution .
The camera utilizes a Stirling-cycle cooler to maintain the PtSi focal plane array at cryogenic temperatures (~77-80 K) for optimal performance . The PtSi technology provides exceptional photoresponse uniformity, high detector density, and good dynamic range, making it suitable for demanding long-range observation and surveillance tasks .
