This 32mm objective lens is one element in the building block design of the Gaertner Measuring Microscope series. The objective is in a continuously threaded cell with a stop collar which is supplied with a set screw. This allows the magnification of the objective to be precisely set relative to a scale in the eyepiece tube adapter. Focal length is specified on these lenses rather than magnification.
When used with the most commonly supplied M242 10x ocular, the resulting field-of-view is 2.75mm in diameter, with a nominal magnification of 40x. The working distance is 38mm.
These lenses are in excellent cosmetic and optical condition, with strong coatings on the elements.
