The Menda 35110 is a specialized tester used to check for dangerous or unintended voltage on the tip of a soldering iron. It’s primarily used in ESD (Electrostatic Discharge)-sensitive workbenches / production lines to make sure soldering irons are properly grounded and not leaking AC voltage to the tip.
Key Specifications & Features
Based on the technical bulletin and manufacturer data:
-
The unit is powered by 2 × AAA batteries. – Not included
-
It includes: a circuit board in an enclosure, a sensor plate, a grounding wire with a banana plug, and Velcro pieces to mount it.
-
The enclosure size is ~2.4″ × 2.3″ × 1″.
-
Audible + visual alarm: If the tip voltage goes over a threshold (1.25 V AC), it triggers a red LED + a beeper.
-
The “OK” condition: green LED lights when tip is properly grounded and voltage is below ~1.25 V AC.
-
To test the alarm (FAIL) function, you can use a function generator: set to sine wave, ~1 Hz, 1 V amplitude → the red LED should light and the beeper should sound when voltage exceeds ~1.25 V AC.
