The Rudolph Film Thickness Monitor (FTM) is an instrument to measure the thickness of films by means of a non-contact measurement method. Their method is based on the reflection of light from the surface and as such is a contactless probe. Considerable computation is required and unambiguous results are only obtained if it is known a priory that the film thickness lies within a specified range, usually 0 to about 3000 �. The optical techniques are based on the wavelength and/or angle of incidence dependence of the reflectivity.
Our unit does power on, but, as you may note from the pictures, we did not get a numeric reading in the display panel on the top left of the unit.
