This is a Micro-Slides Model SK075A-200-0021 in perfect condition except some light clamping marks from stage clamp. This same slide is now manufactured by American Linear Manufacturers of Westbury, NY as the model LA3-4-1K with the stage lock option installed.

The stage features aluminum construction with cross-roller bearings. The knob is graduated in 0.001 inch divisions, with a 5/16-40 pitch lead screw. The clamp assembly (which is easily removable) adds an additional 1.375 inches to the width of the slide (including clamping knob).

This is a really massive linear translation table with a 2-inch range of motion. The platform runs on cross-roller bearings. The table is constructed of steel and has provisions for mounting a micrometer drum and stop unit on either side. In the current configuration, the spindle is fixed to the base, the stop to the moving table. The stop block has three selectable positions . The stop segment is independently adjustable. The micrometer spindle holder may be installed in four separate positions. On the opposite side it appears the spindle may be mounted on the upper table with the stop block facing the opposite direction (see fourth photo).

The base is heavily reinforced with cast webbing (see fifth photo). Both the entire top surface and the four corner positioning feet are precision ground to a mirror finish. The included micrometer spindle is a Mitutoyo 0-1 inch, reading to 0.0001 inches.

The stage is in superb condition, although there is no manufacturer�s mark anywhere. There is a certification sticker on the side of the table marked Reichert-McBain. McBain has manufactured numerous inspection type instruments for metrology although I am not aware of them having manufactured actual stage components such as this.

This stage is similar in appearance to some of the stainless steel Klinger and Micro Controle stages I have seen, however, all of the hardware and hole patterns / spacing are English. The stage does have crossed-roller bearings, so it should have very good load-bearing capability. There is also a locking screw opposite the micrometer spindle. The construction of the locking mechanism is such that the stage is checked positively without undue stress being placed on the bearings.
